Project Assistant

Washington, District of Columbia, United States · Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care

REPORTS TO: Director, Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care

The Jewish Federations of North America (“JFNA”) represents 147 Jewish Federations and over 300 Network communities, which raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services and educational needs. The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (Jewish learning).

The Project Assistant works to implement the daily operations of the Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care (“Center”). The Center is advancing person-centered trauma-informed (PCTI) supportive services for Holocaust survivors by distributing sub-grants to local agencies and Federations, and by providing technical assistance and capacity building support to sub-grantees and the Aging Services Network at large. The Center is in the fourth year of funding of a Congressional appropriation through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living that is renewable annually for up to five years. JFNA is seeking additional funding to continue the work and this position beyond five years. JFNA’s maintenance of this position is contingent upon subsequent Congressional appropriations and continued receipt of the grant.
